The Relevance of IoT on One’s Lifestyle The Internet of Things (IoT) connects everyday objects (such as smartphones, smart watches, smart TV) to the Internet, allowing them to sense, communicate, and interact with other objects. In his talk at TEDx Talks, Hougland shared that IoT has the potential to improve healthcare, safety and convenience. IoT has a lot of applications to our daily tasks. When traveling, IoT gives you possible routes that you can take to arrive at your destination on time. Also, it informs you whether certain roads are impassable or congested.  In terms of security, surveillance cameras or CCTVs allow you to monitor different places synchronously. Also, it alerts you to possible dangers that may occur such as incoming typhoons and earthquakes. Taking care of your health is important. Gadgets such as smartwatches allow you to track your daily steps, monitor your pulse and heart rate, and keep track of your water intake, etc. While the emergence o...

The Issues and Challenges Linked to IoT       The Internet of Things (IoT) is a giant network of linked things that collects, identifies, and analyzes data and information. Smart things such as television, wristwatch, and phones are examples of gadgets that are connected or can be connected to the Internet. IoT has a wide range of applications to the world. It is utilized in homes, cities, environment, energy, logistics, agriculture, retail, and healthcare. Immediately after its emergence in the online realm, IoT abrupt growth has been recognized. However, as convenient as it is, the Internet of Things faces challenges and issues. Due to high demand, one of the major issues linked to the use of IoTs is electronic waste. High production rate of these technologies may greatly impact the environment since some e-waste contains lead. Such waste is harmful to our surroundings, especially if not disposed of properly. Unfortunately, the recycling rate of electronic wast...

Product risk, privacy risk, temporal risk, and financial risk are some of the risks that you may experience while buying online.        In order to avoid or mitigate these risks, a person should be mindful of his or her buying decisions. Before you venture into the world of e-commerce, it is important to read and understand the terms and conditions for each platform. Consumers must understand that some personal information might be disclosed and that their privacy may be lost.        Furthermore, it is crucial to purchase goods from reliable and legitimate sources. What factors affect your purchasing decision?  Price: Since the product is on sale (80% off), it is much cheaper than its original price (from 1,000 pesos to 199 pesos only).  Social Media Utilization As the use of social media has become widespread, I, as a user of it, utilize it for three (3) main purposes, such as:      1. Communication Social media allows me to communicate with others whenever and wherever I am. Instant messaging apps, such as Messenger, enable me to converse with my family and friends. In some circumstances, such as distance and busy schedules, video chat apps, such as Google Meet and Messenger, have been a way for me to see others face-to-face, maybe not personally but virtually.      2. Information I am updated on the latest news through the use of social media. Information such as the daily heat index, incoming typhoons, and the current state of the country can be accessed on social media. However, assessing this information is important, as some sources are irrelevant and aim to misinform the public.     3. Entertainment Video and music platforms, such as YouTube, are my go-to apps whenev...

Assessing Online Content 1. Can medical websites help you diagnose any health problems? Is it safe to take actions concerning your health based on advice from the web?       A lot of medical websites are emerging online. However, it is important to remember that not all of these sites are reliable, especially in the aspect of health. It is important to take note of the authority of the site. Health related websites should be managed by healthcare workers like doctors and nurses. Websites such as https://www.webmd.com provide credible health information and features such as symptom checker and pill identifier.       Although sites like WebMD may give reliable information, it is still advised to go to a hospital for proper diagnosis (especially on health issues needing physical examination or surgery). 2. It is critical to comprehend what "harmful online content" entails. International human rights law lays out a number of legitimate limitations on...

Computer Technology: A Gift or a Curse? In my stance, I think that computer technology is a blessing, especially to those who are knowledgeable about it. If you are techy, you can use computer technology to its maximum capability. You can utilize and take its features to your advantage.   At the end, it is in the hands of the user whether it will be a gift or a curse. By using it responsibly and in moderation, we can avoid turning it into a curse.
